    Cramd ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, process, and protect your information when you use our platform, including our website and services (collectively, the "Service").

    By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

    1. Information We Collect

    To provide our study tools and ensure a seamless experience, we collect information across several categories:

    • Account Information: When you register or authenticate (e.g., via Google, GitHub, or email), we collect your name, email address, and profile image.
    • Uploaded Content: You may upload and store study materials, including PDFs, images, notes, documents, and other media files. This content is used to generate flashcards, quizzes, active recall questions, and other study materials.
    • Payment Information: We do not store or handle credit card numbers or raw billing credentials on our servers. All transactions are securely processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor, in accordance with their privacy policy (available at stripe.com/privacy).
    • Usage Analytics: We collect data on how you interact with our Service, such as features used, study performance, and engagement metrics.
    • Device & Browser Information: We automatically collect technical information when you access the Service, including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, operating system, device characteristics, and timestamps of your requests.

    2. How We Use Your Data

    We process your information to deliver and improve our Service. Specifically, we use your data to:

    • Authenticate and Manage Accounts: To register your account, manage your profile, and authenticate your login sessions.
    • Generate Study Materials: To process your uploaded documents and notes to create personalized study resources, flashcards, active recall questions, and summaries.
    • Operate and Maintain the Service: To ensure the core functionality of the platform is reliable and secure.
    • Improve Platform Reliability & Performance: To debug technical issues, monitor server health, and optimize user experience.
    • Prevent Abuse & Fraud: To detect, investigate, and prevent unauthorized access, spam, or malicious behavior.
    • Analyze Product Usage: To gather aggregated insights on how users interact with the Service to inform new features and improvements.

    3. Uploaded Content & Media Storage

    Cramd allows you to upload and store documents and media files (such as PDFs, images, and notes) to enable flashcard and study resource generation.

    • Storage: Uploaded content and media files are stored securely on our third-party cloud infrastructure and storage providers (such as secure cloud databases and Cloudflare R2 storage).
    • No Selling of Data: Cramd does not sell, rent, or trade your uploaded content or personal information to third parties.
    • Ownership: You retain all intellectual property rights in and ownership of the content you upload to Cramd.
    • Model Training: Cramd does not use uploaded user content to train public AI models.

    4. AI Processing & Model Training Disclosure

    To provide automated study aids, flashcards, and quizzes, Cramd utilizes advanced artificial intelligence technology:

    • Third-Party Processing: Uploaded files, documents, and notes are processed by third-party AI service providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini API) solely for the purpose of generating study materials and powering app functionalities.
    • No Public Model Training: Cramd does not use uploaded user content to train public AI models. Uploaded content, files, and user-generated notes are processed strictly to serve your requests and are not used by our third-party AI providers to train public models.

    5. Data Storage & Infrastructure

    We use trusted, industry-leading third-party hosting partners, cloud providers, and infrastructure vendors to power Cramd. These services cover:

    • Authentication: Verifying and securing user sessions.
    • File & Media Storage: Hosting uploaded PDFs, images, and other study documents using secure object storage.
    • AI Processing: Interfacing with AI models to generate educational outputs.
    • Analytics: Understanding application performance and user engagement.
    • Payment Processing: Securely processing subscriptions and transactions.

    While user data is securely transmitted and stored using these third-party systems, we implement appropriate technical safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access.

    6. Data Retention & Deletion

    We retain your personal data and uploaded content only for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with the Service.

    • Account Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and all associated personal data and uploaded content at any time. To request deletion, please contact us at [email protected].
    • Effect of Deletion: Upon processing your deletion request, your profile, files, and generated study materials will be permanently deleted from our active databases and storage systems, subject to any legal obligations or emergency backups.

    7. Children's Privacy

    Cramd is designed to help students study, but it is not intended for use by children under the age of 13.

    • No Knowing Collection: We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13.
    • Action on Discovery: If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information from our servers as quickly as possible.     8. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

    We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to identify your session, remember your preferences, and maintain authentication security:

    • Essential Cookies: These are necessary to keep you logged in and secure your session.

    Cramd reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time and at our sole discretion.
